Setlane and Strong both help you follow your own strength-training routine. This comparison starts with the workout itself, then looks at what you can review for free, which devices you can use and whether an AI connection would add anything to your training.

Following a routine between sets
In Setlane, open a routine, check the previous weight and reps, and record completed sets. The rest timer starts automatically and continues with the screen locked. Logging works offline after initial setup; syncing and AI access need a connection.
Strong also starts its rest timer when you complete a set. You can set different rest durations for warm-up and working sets. Its set tags distinguish warm-ups, drop sets and failed attempts, which is useful when a plain weight-and-reps entry does not tell the whole story.
Try the same normal workout in each app. Compare how easily you correct a set, find the previous session and resume after a rest. A feature list cannot decide which interaction feels natural to you.

Three free routines does not mean the same free plan
Both free plans allow three saved routines or templates. The more consequential difference is history: Strong says your workout data remains available without PRO. Setlane Free gives access to the latest 90 days; Pro unlocks full history. Someone with years of Strong records should account for that before switching.
Setlane Free includes the Progress dashboard: total training volume, workout count, total sets, average volume and duration, and trend charts for volume, sets and duration. All these dashboard metrics and charts are available on Free within the 90-day history window.

Individual exercise statistics are separate: Free includes the weight chart and one highlighted record after a workout. Pro adds exercise-level e1RM, reps and volume charts, detailed records, full history and custom date ranges. Strong reserves access to all charts, body-part measurements and its plate and warm-up calculators for PRO. Compare the data you actually use.

Reviewing your log with ChatGPT or Claude
Setlane connects your training data to ChatGPT or Claude. Read-only access lets an assistant review completed sessions; editing access enables supported changes, including creating routines you approve. Ask it to show the sessions behind a conclusion. Setlane itself does not generate a personalized training program.
Free includes 60 AI tool calls per month, shared across connected assistants. One message can require several calls. Pro removes Setlane’s monthly allowance limit; provider subscriptions and technical limits remain separate. Strong does not offer a native ChatGPT or Claude connection.

When Apple Watch or RPE decides the choice
Strong has a dedicated Apple Watch app for recording sets and adjusting weights and reps. Live Sync connects an active workout on the watch and iPhone. Setlane is currently an Android app, so it is not a replacement for that watch workflow.
Strong also documents RPE entry alongside repetitions. If your coach asks you to record how difficult each set felt, that is a meaningful advantage. Setlane currently has no dedicated RPE or RIR field. Its weight-and-rep history should not be presented as a substitute for effort ratings.

Compare the USD prices
| Plan | Setlane Pro | Strong PRO |
|---|---|---|
| Monthly Pro | $4.99 | $4.99 |
| Annual Pro | $19.99 first year; $29.99 renewal | $29.99 |
| Lifetime | $49.99 launch offer through September 30, 2026; then $69.99 | $99.99 listed for Strong PRO Forever |
Prices are in USD. Introductory offers and renewal prices are shown separately.
The listed monthly price is the same, and Setlane’s annual renewal matches Strong’s advertised annual price. Setlane’s first-year offer is lower. A lower introductory price alone is a weak reason to replace a tracker that already fits your training.

Keep your history while trying the switch
Export Strong’s workout data to CSV from Settings before making changes. Keep that file and your existing history. Setlane does not currently import Strong CSV: recreate one routine manually and use the export as a reference. Setlane Pro’s CSV export takes logged sets out of Setlane; it is not an import feature.

Which app fits your training?
Setlane fits Android lifters who want their workout log available to ChatGPT or Claude with explicit control over access. Strong fits people who value Apple Watch logging, recorded RPE or continued access to older workouts on the free plan. If Strong already meets those needs, you do not need to switch just to try another tracker.
Frequently asked questions
Can I move my Strong history into Setlane?
There is no direct Strong CSV import into Setlane. Keep your Strong export, recreate your routine and start logging new sessions. Do not delete the original history while evaluating the switch.
Does Setlane work on Apple Watch?
Setlane is currently available on Android. Strong offers an Apple Watch app alongside its iPhone app.
Is Strong free for more than three workouts?
Yes. The limit is three saved workout templates, not three completed workouts. Strong’s free version allows unlimited workout logging.
